MIDVALE, Dec. 28, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A man is in critical condition after police say he fell asleep while driving a Mercedes Benz SUV early Thursday morning, drove through a fence and split a tree in half.
Police responded to the scene, at 6847 S. 700 East, Murray, at about 3 a.m. The driver, who is approximately 45 years old, according to Unified Police Lt. Ken Malone, had to be extricated due to severe damage to the car. He was transported to Intermountain Medical Center.
The homeowner whose fence and tree were hit said that a couple months ago, a vehicle drove through the same fence and broke a power pole in half, also knocking down a tree.
