WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, Feb. 9, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A man is in critical condition after an auto-pedestrian accident overnight in West Valley City.

The man struck was transported to Intermountain Medical Center in critical condition, according to Sgt. Levi Lloyd, West Valley City Police Department.

“There was an adult male that was in the street and he was struck by a vehicle,” Lloyd said at the scene, near 2995 South and 3200 West.

“The driver is here and cooperative. It looks like he (the victim) was just crossing the street, by the looks of it, quite a distance from the crosswalk. Pretty dark out here in this stretch.”

Lloyd said it’s important for pedestrians to cross in crosswalks, and also to look and make sure no cars are approaching, even if the light is red, “especially at nighttime.”
