WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, June 7, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A man who died Wednesday afternoon in what West Valley City Police officers first called a hit-and-run and is now being treated as a homicide investigation has been identified.
The victim is Jeremy Hardman, 47, from West Valley City, the WVC Police Department said in a tweet.
Officials responded at 3:40 p.m. to the scene, at 4100 South and 3600 West.
Police said the investigation has revealed that Hardman and a friend had an argument with the suspect. At some point, the suspect got in a vehicle, made a U-turn and hit the victim as he was in the crosswalk. Investigators believe the act was intentional and are treating this case as a homicide.
Authorities describe the suspect vehicle as a 2001-2005 black, four-door Lexus sedan with a “loud exhaust,” a spoiler and temporary license plates.
Police added the windshield of the car is caved in, and the vehicle traveled southbound after the incident.
Officials also released a photo of the vehicle Wednesday evening.
The driver is a Caucasian or Hispanic man believed to be in his late 20s or early 30s, with buzz-cut hair and unknown clothing.
