ST. GEORGE, Utah, Nov. 3, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A Midvale man was arrested Thursday after police say he sexually exploited a 17-year-old girl he had previously counseled at the West Jordan youth treatment facility.

Mart “Marty” Clough, 32, is accused of requesting nude and pornographic images and videos of the girl, and arranging to meet with her with the intention of having sex with her. He has been booked into the Washington County Jail.

According to court documents, the investigation began after a guidance counselor at the girl’s school, in St. George, was told of the incidents and contacted the St. George Police Department.

According to a statement from the SGPD detective, the girl friended Clough on Facebook after she left the West Jordan facility, and he accepted, but later ” … advised the victim he would need to unfriend her or he could get in trouble. Marty advised they could still talk,” according to a probable cause statement.

Clough later requested the teen connect with him on Snapchat. The two discussed their ages, with the teen telling Clough she was almost 18, the statement says.

The conversation turned sexual, and the victim sent a photo of herself in underwear. Clough said he would like more, so the girl sent naked photos and intimate videos in which she did things Clough had said he would enjoy viewing.

The two conversed over various social media services, and Clough told the girl he planned to visit St. George so the two could be physically intimate.

Much of the evidence in the case is from computer files of the victim, and the results of warrants served on Facebook and Snapchat.

Clough faces four counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, a second-degree felony, and one count of enticing, soliciting, seducing or luring a minor by internet or text, a class A misdemeanor.
