Police: No formal charges yet in death of Saratoga Springs infant

UTAH COUNTY, April 19, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — No formal charges have been filed yet in the case of a deceased infant found Wednesday morning at a Saratoga Springs residence.

Police had initially reported taking one man into custody in the case, but the only man arrested that day from Saratoga Springs, according to records, was booked on an unrelated charge and has been released.

Police later confirmed that formal charges have not been filed in the case as of Thursday afternoon.

SSPD officers arrived Wednesday morning at the condominium complex, near Redwood Road and Harvest Hills Boulevard, where the infant was later found. Forensic teams spent most of the day on scene, then removed a body bag and left, according to neighbors.

Detective Jason Ruch told reporters that investigators would be busy over the next few days, at least, following leads and trying to fill the gaps in what they know.

Police did not immediately release information about the infant or how long it had been dead.

Gephardt Daily will have more on this case as information becomes available.
