RIVERTON, Utah, June 4, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A Riverton child has died in the hospital after she was found unconscious in a neighbor’s backyard swimming pool Sunday.

“This afternoon we were notified that the 2 1/2 year old little girl found unconscious in a Riverton swimming pool yesterday has passed away. Our hearts go out to the family during this very difficult time,” the Unified Police Department tweeted Monday evening.

Unified Police Detective Ken Hansen said first responders were dispatched to a home near 12700 South and Timpview Drive about 1:20 p.m. Sunday.

When police arrived they found the child’s 20-year-old sister performing CPR.

Officers took over resuscitation efforts until medical personnel arrived.
