RIVERTON, Utah, May 4, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — The Unified Police Department and DEA Metro Narcotics Task Force have recovered a large stash of illegal drugs from the basement of an apartment in Riverton.

Acting on a tip, officers obtained a search warrant and, at about 10 a.m. Thursday, surrounded the apartment, at 12480 S. 2240 West.

With the help of a K-9, they found 110 pounds of marijuana with a street value of $760,000. Officers also found $46,750 in cash.

The apartment’s sole occupant, Elijah Webb, complied with officers, and was taken into custody. Webb was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on two charges:

  • Manufacturing of a controlled substance, a second-degree felony
  • Distribution of a controlled substance, a third-degree felony

“We have zero tolerance for this type of illicit behavior in Riverton,” Mayor Trent Staggs said in a prepared statement.

“It’s comforting to know the suspect was only in the city for a few days before he was apprehended. This is yet another example of the phenomenal work our Unified Police Department officers do for our community.”

Police say no one else at the address is involved in the case or is related to Webb.
