SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Feb. 4, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A man was rushed to the hospital Sunday morning after he was hit by a car at 500 E. Harvard (1100 South). The suspect vehicle did not stop.

Lt. Mark Buhman, Salt Lake City Police Department, said the auto-pedestrian accident happened at about 7 a.m., and police were still gathering information.

“We know the victim was in the roadway,” Buhman said. “We don’t know if he was jogging. We’re still piecing the details together.”

Buhman said police believe the man may have been just south of the crosswalk.

A northbound vehicle struck the man, causing “significant injuries — broken bones in his leg, and head injuries,” Buhman said.

The victim was transported to the hospital by ground ambulance, and initial reports on the scanner indicated he was in very critical condition.

The 911 call was made by people who were in the area and heard the crash. They came over and saw the victim in the roadway, Buhman said, and called it in as a hit-and-run.

The only description of the suspect vehicle is that it’s a white sedan, but Buhman said officials will be checking for surveillance cameras on nearby homes to see if the car was captured on video.

  1. It takes a pretty dark heart to hit an individual then keep on going. I wouldn’t leave an animal to suffer much less a human being. Prayers for the victim.
