MILLCREEK, Utah, Dec. 15, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Officials are searching for a man they say ended an argument by throwing gasoline at a resident of a Millcreek duplex.

The fire, set at about 2 a.m. Friday, was quickly extinguished, and the man covered with gas was not burned, according Lt. Manfred Lassig, Unified Police Department.

“Apparently, there was a conflict between the renters of the duplex back here,” Lassig said.

The suspects left, but came back.

“The suspect returned and apparently threw some gas inside the place, and on one of the people, and lit a fire.”

The doused man was not hurt, and the residence was not seriously damaged.

One suspect was taken into custody.

“We’re still looking for the other, the main actor in this whole deal,” Lassig said. “The male that’s in there, he’s got gas on him, he reeks of gas, but there’s no fire.

“This is a real serious deal because it’s a duplex, this fire, you’re talking aggravated arson, a first-degree felony,” Lassig said. “And it’s going to be doubled because it’s a duplex, both sides could have been involved when you’d light that one building on fire.

Lassig said it’s possible the gasoline thrower could be charged with attempted murder as well.

The case has been turned over to the Unified Fire Department. Officials have said they intend to file criminal charges.

  1. It would be fantastic if the media could release a name and/or photo of the suspect they are looking for, in this case. It would also be nice if they would update whether or not the suspect has been arrested.
