LITTLE COTTONWOOD CANYON, Utah, April 9, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Salt Lake County Search and Rescue crews responded Monday to the scene of an accident in Little Cottonwood Canyon.

According to a tweet from the Unified Police Department, a 53-year-old woman injured her ankle at Red Pine Trail. The call came to dispatch at about 1:30 p.m. Monday.

Lt. Brian Lohrke, Unified Police Department, told Gephardt Daily at 4:15 p.m. that crews were still attempting to reach the woman.

“The trail is icy and snowy, and they are having a hard time getting to her,” he said.

Lohrke later told Gephardt Daily that the woman was brought off the mountain by helicopter at about 6 p.m. Her injuries were not life-threatening. Lohrke said that due to privacy rules, it was unlikely he would get an update on the woman’s condition.
