DAVIS COUNTY, Utah, June 12, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Emergency personnel responded to the scene of a fatal accident Tuesday night at Francis Peak in Farmington Canyon.

A 61-year-old West Valley City man was out with his family when the UTV he was riding rolled about 200 yards down a cliff.

Detective Ty Berger, of the Davis County Sheriff’s Office, told Gephardt Daily the area in which the man was riding was “beyond the capabilities of the side-by-side.”

Davis County Sheriff’s Office and Search and Rescue, along with Farmington Fire and Life Flight paramedics responded, but the man was deceased at the scene.

Berger said no drugs or alcohol were involved in the incident. It wasn’t known if the man had previous experience riding in the canyon, or if the fading light — the accident happened at 8:30 p.m. — had anything to do with it.

The man’s name has not been released pending notification of other family members.
