SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah, April 30, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Multiple traffic accidents snarled or blocked traffic Monday morning after a mix of rain and snow made roads slick for the commute.

In Salt Lake County, a semi that was eastbound on Interstate 80 near Redwood Road crashed through a concrete median and collided with an SUV. Injuries were minor, but traffic was blocked for multiple hours, first in both directions. Eastbound lanes opened first. Westbound lanes were expected to be cleared by afternoon.

Lesser accidents on the west side I-215 belt also caused significant delays, according to information from the Utah Department of Transportation.

According to the National Weather Service, weather in Salt Lake County could include showers and possibly a thunderstorm, predicted for Monday afternoon and evening, so the evening commute could be tricky as well. UDOT advises drivers to slow down to a speed appropriate for conditions.

The National Weather Service predicts spring showers off and on throughout this week. See the current forecast below.
