SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., Jan, 14, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Planned Parenthood on Thursday filed a federal lawsuit against the anti-abortion activists who targeted the group with controversial undercover videos it released last year.

This is the first time Planned Parenthood has taken action against the group, the Center for Medical Progress.

Planned Parenthood, the national organization and its California affiliate, has accused the Center for Medical Progress of breaking the law when it made secret recordings and trespassed.

It accused the Center for Medical Progress of breaking federal laws and the laws of three states. David Daleiden, who worked for the Center for Medical Progress, also was named in the suit.

“Today, Planned Parenthood is going on the offense,” Kathy Kneer, president of Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California said in a call with reporters.

In response, Daleiden released a statement that said “game on.”

Utah Governor Gary Herbert has said his attempt to defund the Planned Parenthood Association of Utah was a reaction, to viewing the undercover videos. PPAU is challenging Herbert’s decisions through the courts.
