Aug. 30 (UPI) — A man applying for a job at a California Halloween attraction came prepared to show off his special skill: eating live black widow spiders.

Daniel Roberts attended a hiring event for Hobb’s Grove annual haunted Halloween celebrations this week and brought along some live black widow spiders to show off how creepy he could be.

Roberts showed KMPH-TV how he allows the spiders to crawl on his face and inside his mouth before eating them alive.

Roberts said he has been bitten by the spiders twice and carries special pills to take in case he is subjected to the venom while doing his tricks.

The performer gave a simple answer to the question of why he performs such an unusual trick — “Because it’s fun.”
