TALLAHASSEE, Fla., April 29 (UPI) — A YouTube user who dumped molten aluminum into a hole in a watermelon was shocked when the experiment created a piece of “art” rather than an explosion.

Florida-based YouTuber TheBackyardScientist, whose previous experiments include pouring molten aluminum into a swimming pool and a live toaster, said his fans predicted the watermelon would explode when the aluminum was poured into a hole and even he was surprised when the fruit failed to burst.

The scientist cut the watermelon open and discovered the experiment had created a foul odor and an aluminum sculpture inside the fruit akin to a work of “ant hill art.”

“That is so much cooler than I thought!” the YouTuber said.

“I thought it was just going to be a stupid watermelon exploding video,” he said.
