Starbucks to Stop Writing ‘Race Together’ on Coffee Cups

SEATTLE, March 22 (UPI) — It was originally being done to start a conversation about race between Starbucks customers and employees, and it received some criticism.

starbucksThe Race Together campaign is not quite over; Schultz says the company will still run special sections in USA Today and host discussions.

Schultz claims the campaign had always contemplated ending the cup-tagging on Sunday.

“The heart of Race Together has always been about humanity: the promise of the American Dream should be available to every person in this country, not just a select few,” Schultz wrote. “We leaned in because we believed that starting this dialogue is what matters most. We are learning a lot. And will always aim high in our efforts to make a difference on the issues that matter most.”
