UTAH – July 22, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – The Humane Society of Utah (HSU) is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for the death of two baby ferruginous hawks found shot dead. The hawks were found near their nest two weeks ago in Tooele County.

The HSU hopes the reward assists the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources in obtaining information required to identify and charge whoever is responsible for this act of animal cruelty.

“This is a federal offense and the person or people responsible for this senseless act need to be held accountable to the full extent of the law,” said John Fox, HSU chief investigator. “We hope the reward helps the DWR make a conviction.”

Anyone with information regarding who may have shot and killed these baby hawks is urged to contact the DWR hotline at 800-662-3337 or John Fox at 801-261-2919 ext. 210. Tips can remain anonymous.
