MOAB, Utah, Feb. 26, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A high school football star from Moab died in a head-on collision on SR-191 near Moab Thursday night.
Utah Highway Patrol said the accident occurred around 7:30 p.m. when Kayden Cresswell, 16, was traveling north and crossed the center line into oncoming traffic, hitting a Toyota Tundra head-on.
Troopers said Cresswell was not wearing a seat belt and was killed upon impact.
On Friday, friends and family of the teen changed their profile pictures to reflect Cresswell’s football jersey number at Moab’s Grand County High School.
The driver of the Toyota Tundra, Kai Malloy, 40, of Moab, was transported to the hospital in serious condition.
Investigators suspect fatigue, not drugs or alcohol, may have been a factor in the crash.
