MIDVALE, Utah, June 8, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — The subject of a SWAT standoff Wednesday morning in Midvale has turned himself in to police.
Keison Kuykendall, 19, wanted for murder in a May 21 incident in Holladay, surrendered late Wednesday morning after media coverage of a SWAT team targeting a Midvale residence Kuykendall was through to be inside.
Sheriff Jim Winder told Gephardt Daily that was seen at about 3 a.m. in the area of 7933 S. Main St. A SWAT team was called in and set up containment lines.
Police were able to make contact with a woman inside a home where Kuykendall was believed to be hiding. She said he was not there, but police opted not to take take her word for it.
Nearly four hours after the incident began, a search warrant was granted, and SWAT team members entered the home. They determined the suspect was not inside.
Kuykendall is wanted in connection with a homicide last month, committed after a fight broke out at a Holladay birthday party. Winder said a rival gang arrived at the party and shot Jonathan Jackson, 26, in the hand.
When Jackson’s father, Darrin Jackson, 46, tried to intervene, the elder Jackson was shot and killed “almost execution style,” Winder said.
Damian Garcia, 19, and Joshua Nguyen, 21, also have been arrested in connection with the murder case.
