CACHE COUNTY, Utah, Sept. 5, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Officials with the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest Service announced Monday afternoon that the Peterson Hollow Fire has successfully been contained at 100 percent.
Total acreage remains at 1,242, and as of 6 a.m. Monday, a smaller Type 4 Incident Management Team was managing the fire.
According to a news release, area and trail closures on the Logan and Montpelier Ranger Districts will be rescinded Tuesday.
The public is asked to remember that although the fire perimeter is secure, there is still active fire in the interior. Firefighters will continue monitoring and controlling hot spots, and working on rehab.
Anyone traveling near the fire area should drive cautiously for their own safety and the safety of the firefighters.
The only closure that will remain in place is the Sink Hollow Trail, primarily because of the potential for falling trees. The Sink Hollow Trail will remain closed until further notice for public safety, the release states.

Fire investigators have determined the cause of the fire was an abandoned campfire in Peterson Hollow. Fire officials are asking forest visitors to keep in mind that most wildfires are human caused, very expensive to put out, and completely preventable.
On a happy note, officials want the public to know that the kitten “Marge,” who was rescued by the Blue Ridge Hotshots near the fireline, has been adopted by a local Forest Service employee’s family. Efforts were made to find the owner, but no one came forward, the release states, and Marge is thriving in her new home.
The Northern Utah Interagency Type 3 Incident Management Team expressed their thanks to the public and various agencies involved in helping to suppress this fire.
