WELD COUNTY, Colo., April 4, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — The Colorado Civil Air Patrol spent Tuesday searching for a Cessna 210 that left Erie Municipal Airport in Weld County on Monday morning.
The aircraft was expected in Richfield, Sevier County, Utah, but never arrived, 9News reported.
9News said that, according to CAP Maj. Mike Fassi, the lone pilot took off aboard his Cessna 210 single-engine plane Monday at 8 a.m. and was reported missing to the Air Force at 7:15 that night.
Searchers don’t know what route the pilot was taking because he didn’t file a flight plan. A flight plan isn’t mandatory, but is always recommended and would have helped narrow the search area in this emergency, Fassi said.
According to The Denver Post, Richfield Municipal Airport Manager Adam Robinson said it was his understanding the plane was last seen on radar about an hour outside of Richfield somewhere over Interstate 70.
