Breaking: 3 inmates critically injured in stabbing at Utah State Prison

DRAPER, Utah, Jan. 10, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — At least three inmates are in extremely critical condition after an outbreak of violence Wednesday night at the Utah State Prison in Draper.

The incident was reported by corrections officers at about 8:11 p.m. with reports of multiple stabbings in the Uinta Facility.

Maria Peterson, spokeswoman for the prison, told Gephardt Daily that details about the incident are still unfolding, but she could confirm that there was an active incident at the prison, and emergency responders were on scene.

Two of the inmates were taken by ambulance to Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, while another was flown by AirMed to the University of Utah Hospital.

No corrections officers were reported injured and the facility is now in lockdown.

Agencies reportedly responding included the Unified Police Department and the Draper Police Department.
