Inmate stabbed in Draper prison, facility under lockdown

DRAPER, Utah, June 10, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — An inmate at the Utah State Prison was stabbed Sunday night and the prison is under lockdown.

The incident happened shortly after 8:30 p.m. and, according to Public Information Officer Kaitlin Felsted, the man was stabbed by at least one other inmate. It wasn’t immediately known if more people were involved.

Felsted told Gephardt Daily the inmate who was stabbed was transferred to a different facility, and his condition and the extent of his injuries are not currently known.

The incident is still under investigation.

  1. Just because someone is in jail/prison, doesn’t lessen the fact that they are human. How many more have to die in the Utah system before something is done to prevent this from occurring.thats still some mother’s child.
