DRAPER, Utah, Sept. 5, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Utah Highway Patrol officials have released the name of a man killed in a Wednesday night crash on Interstate 15 in Draper.

The victim isĀ  Jacob A. Miller, 23, of West Jordan.

Miller was northbound on I-15 at 10:54 p.m. when he struck a UPS semi hauling double trailers.

The truck had stopped on the roadway after experiencing an air malfunction, causing the tires to lock up and stop, a statement from the Utah Department of Public Safety says.

The truck had been stopped for about 5 minutes, at 15100 South on I-15, when Miller approached at highway speeds, and the collision occurred. The force drove the front of Miller’s car under the semi’s bumper.

“A Nissan Sentra with a 23-year-old male driver impacted the rear of the back trailer at high speed and (Miller) was pronounced deceased at the scene by medical personnel,” the DPS statement says.

“The driver of the semi truck was not injured. The semi truck was returning to Salt Lake from Provo and was loaded at approximately 70% full with general packages (Amazon etc.)

“Impairment of either driver is not suspected at this time.”
