WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, Feb. 5, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A teen is in custody Tuesday night in connection with the shooting death of a 15-year-old boy earlier in the day.

The 14-year-old male has been booked on a charge of criminal homicide in the fatal shooting of Marquez Grajeda, according to a tweet from West Valley City Police Department late Tuesday night.

“This charge allows for the possibility of the homicide resulting from either negligence or an intentional act,” the tweet said. “Ultimately, the charges in the case will be determined by the DA.”

The incident occurred inside a residence at 1347 W. 2320 South, where a friend of the victim lives. It is not the home of the suspect, police said.

Multiple people were in the room at the time of the shooting, and officials obtained a search warrant for evidence and interviewed the witnesses.

Two guns were recovered, but it is unknown whether either gun was the weapon involved, the tweet said.

Gephardt Daily will update this story as more details are released.
