SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Jan. 18, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Salt Lake City police late Friday night said they have located the body of David Stokoe, a South Jordan man who had been missing since Thursday.

Officials say they are investigating the death as a homicide.

Earlier on Friday, SLCPD was assisting the South Jordan Police Department in trying to determine what had become of Stokoe, 40, after he was reported to be heading to an upstairs apartment near Princeton Avenue and 900 East in Salt Lake City.

Police said they were searching a possible crime scene, where they found “very suspicious” evidence.

“We went into the address here, saw some stuff in there that was concerning to us. It’s highly suspicious,” said Detective Greg Wilking, Salt Lake City Police spokesman, at a hastily called news conference near the scene Friday afternoon.

Late Friday night, SLCPD tweeted:

“Sadly we are now investigating a #Homicide. David Stokoe has been located deceased. Updates will be coming in the morning. Our condolences to family and friends. We will work hard to bring those responsible to #Justice.”

Stokoe’s vehicle also was missing and has not yet been located.
