DIAMOND FORK CANYON, Utah, Oct. 26, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A fire reported Saturday afternoon, first reported burning in Spanish Fork Canyon, is actually spreading in Diamond Fork and has grown to 300 acres.
“Fire in Spanish Fork Canyon. Diamond Fork, Diamond Campground & Wanrhodes. Approx 20 acres & moving up Canyon,” says a tweet from Utah County Sheriff spokesman Sgt. Spencer Cannon.
“@UCSO_SAR responding to help evacuate hunters and anyone in cabins. No structures threatened. @UtahCountyFD & others fighting fire.”
The fire was reported just after 2 p.m.
At about 7 p.m., the UCSO posted on Facebook that “(The fire) is in the hands of Uintah-Wasatch-Cache National Forest officials … UCSO SAR helped make sure no people were in immediate danger. Fifth Water Hot Springs area was evacuated as a precaution.”
No road closures are currently in effect.
The UCSO Facebook post concluded:
“As a separate note, we did issue citations to ten more people who were illegally parked
at the Fifth Water Hot Springs trailhead parking lot. No cars were towed but the cars that were illegally parked created risk that emergency vehicles may not be able to pass.”
