SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah, Nov. 24, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) —  Two suspects are in custody — one of whom was shot by police and in critical condition — after the two reportedly ran their vehicle into an officer Saturday night in the area of 3300 South and 300 West.

A South Salt Lake officer was responding to a burglary call when the two men struck him and then fled on foot.

Police searching the area came upon one of the suspects, and he was shot at least three times, according to officers at the scene.

The wounded suspect was transported to the hospital in extremely critical condition.

K-9 units were brought in as officers set up a containment perimeter to locate the second suspect. He was found and taken into custody a short time later.

The officer who was run over was first reported to be unconscious, but later upgraded to  good condition.

Gephardt Daily has a crew on scene and will update this developing story as information becomes available.
