CARBON COUNTY, Utah, Aug. 7, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Eight young people were injured, two of them critically, when an SUV rolled on a dirt road outside of Price Wednesday night.

Carbon County Sheriff Jeff Wood said the accident happened a little after 8 p.m.

“It was kind of west of Price, on a road known as Pinnacle Peak Road,” Wood said. “It was a single vehicle rollover.”

The two patients in critical condition were flown to Salt Lake City area hospitals, he said. The other six in the SUV were transported to a local hospital, and are in stable condition, he said.

Wood said he would estimate all the males and females in the vehicle were 16 to 18 years old. They were traveling on a fairly straight road, he said, so the reason for the rollover is still under investigation. Wood said he expects to release more details on Thursday morning.

Besides the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office, agencies responding to the crash were the Utah Highway Patrol, Carbon County Search and Rescue, and the Utah State University (southern campus) Police.

“We were able to get them all into ambulances and got them to a local hospital, with the two criticals flown out.”

Wood said the exact nature of the patients’ injuries is also unknown pending updates.
