JUAB COUNTY, Utah, Oct. 13, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) – Crews searching for a missing Sandy woman in Juab County have recovered a female body in the area where she and a male acquaintance said they would be camping.

Police could not confirm the remains were those of 64-year-old Jan Pearson-Jenkins, who went camping on Oct. 4 in the Silver City-Eureka area of Juab County with Cody Young, a man reported to be in his mid-40s. The official identification will be handled by the Medical Examiner’s Office.

Deputy Chief Brent Pulver, Juab County Sheriff’s Office, confirmed to Gephardt Daily that a person of interest is being held in the case, but he declined to share the person’s name.

In an earlier news release from the Sandy City Police, officials said that Young had texted Pearson-Jenkins’ family, saying the two had argued, and he had left her at their rural campsite.

Pearson-Jenkins did not have access to a phone, her purse or clothing appropriate for the weather, officials said. Young could not initially be located after the text.

No suspected cause of death has been released in the case of the body found Saturday.
