PROVO, Utah, Nov. 2, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — The Provo Police Department is asking everyone to avoid the area from 200 West to 300 West and 400 North to 500 North until further notice.

Power lines are down in the area Friday night in what officials are calling “a major incident.”

Provo City Power posted on Facebook shortly before 9:30 p.m.: “We have been informed of another possible outage in the downtown area. A crew has been dispatched to an area where a pole may be down around 400 North and Freedom Blvd.”

Provo Fire and Rescue said on Facebook that multiple power poles broke as a result of high wind bursts, and Freedom Boulevard is closed from 400 North to 500 North.

Late Friday night, Provo PD tweeted that the roadway closures will likely remain in effect until morning. They asked that anyone who would usually travel through the area find an alternative route.

Gephardt Daily is following this developing story and will update as more information is made available.
