SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Aug. 25, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Investigators are on the scene of a fatal train incident after remains were found on the Union Pacific tracks, east of Interstate 15 and in the area of 900 South.

Around 4:15 p.m. Saturday, “Union Pacific personnel located a deceased pedestrian near the 900 South Crossing of the Provo Subdivision in Salt Lake City,” Justin E. Jacobs, spokesman for Union Pacific Railroad, told Gephardt Daily.

No other injuries were reported and the cause of the incident is currently under investigation.

Union Pacific is coordinating its investigative efforts with local law enforcement.

Crime scene investigators said an initial review of evidence suggested the victim may have acted intentionally in hopes of harming themselves.

Police were attempting to review surveillance video from nearby businesses to determine the chain of events leading up to the deadly incident.

Gephardt Daily has a crew on the scene, and will have more information as it becomes available.
