SALT LAKE CITY, Dec. 28, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A woman who took a plea deal after causing the death of a teen pedestrian in Taylorsville, then leaving the scene, was sentenced Friday in 3rd District Court.

Roxanna Molina, 28, will serve up to 20 years in Utah State Prison, a judge ruled Friday afternoon.

In June, Molina pleaded guilty to causing the Nov. 22, 2017 death of Robert Harsh, 19, who was crossing 4200 South and Redwood Road within a crosswalk.

Molina pleaded guilty to automobile homicide, criminal negligence DUI, a second-degree felony; and to failure to remain at the scene of an accident involving death, a third-degree felony.

She was sentenced to up to 15 years for the first charge and up to five years for the second, to run consecutively.

In exchange for her guilty pleas, charges dismissed with prejudice were speeding, an infraction; failure to obey a traffic control device, an infraction; and equipment obstructing visibility of a windshield, an infraction.

Harsh’s body was found 324 feet from the point of impact, the probable cause statement indicates. That’s about 12 yards short of the length of a football field.

Molina, who had been traveling at up to 94 mph in a 45 mph zone, according to the police investigation, was found several blocks away with her damaged and bloody Cadillac Escalade.

Molina’s probable cause statement says that she admitted to consuming approximately five shots of liquor and four beers before the accident. A blood draw indicated her alcohol content was at 0.17, more than double the legal limit.
