SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, May 23, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Two large gas leaks temporarily closed three Salt Lake City streets Thursday afternoon, fire officials said.
The first leak shut down sections of State Street and 700 South, and the second leak has closed a portion of 2100 South.
Salt Lake City fire officials shared information about the first leak on social media about 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
State Street was closed from 600 South to 800 South until about 2:10 p.m., when Dominion Energy mitigated the leak, fire officials said. The section of 700 South remains closed while crews work to repair the line.
About 1:50 p.m., fire officials shared information about a second leak at 1600 East and 2100 South.
The leak has shut down 2100 South from 1300 East to 1800 East, fire officials said.
Motorists are being asked to avoid both areas.
