New wildfire burning in Kane County, south of Bryce Canyon National Park

KANE COUNTY, Utah, July 7, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A wildfire that started Sunday afternoon has burned about 1,200 acres in Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument and south of Bryce Canyon National Park.

State wildfire officials say the Deer Springs Fire approximately 21 miles northeast of Kanab was discovered about 1 p.m. and is “very active.” The fire is human-caused, officials said.

“Air and ground resources are responding,” Utah Fire Info stated on social media.

One private cabin currently is threatened by the fire, officials said.
