OGDEN, Utah, Oct. 21, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — One person is dead after a shooting in Ogden on Saturday afternoon.

Ogden Police Department’s Major Crimes investigators are at the scene, on 27th Street near Quincy.

Officers were dispatched at 4:09 p.m. and have had 27th Street blocked to traffic for several hours. The public is being asked to avoid the area while the investigation continues.

Small groups of neighbors watched from a distance, well away from the crime scene tape and police vehicles that surrounded the area.

A couple of women who live within a block or two of the scene, and who didn’t want to be identified, speculated that the incident may be drug-related, and they expressed concern about the high rate of drug abuse.

“It’s not just here,” one of the woman said. “It’s everywhere now.”

She was wondering about the best way to get home, as her usual route was blocked.

Police have not released the name of the victim, and they are providing very few details while the investigation is underway.

Gephardt Daily will update this developing story as more information becomes available.
