SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Oct. 6, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Police are asking for the public’s help in solving a fatal overnight shooting in Salt Lake City’s Marmalade District.

SLCPD Lt. Dave Cracroft told Gephardt Daily police were called to the area a couple of blocks north of the State Capitol about 12:40 a.m. with multiple reports of shots fired.

Police searched the neighborhood before finally locating the crime scene in a makeshift parking area near 640 N. Darwin Street.

Once there, police found numerous shell casings and possible other evidence, including footprints and tire tracks.

Cracroft said investigators were on the scene about 1:15 a.m. when they received a call from Lakeview Hospital in Bountiful saying a male had arrived at their facility suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

Police later learned the shooting victim — whose name has yet to be released — had died from his injuries.
