ROY, Utah, March 8, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — The Roy Police Department has multiple officers at the city’s high school on Thursday due to a threat scrawled inside the school.

According to reports, a spray-painted message threatening gun violence was found in one of the school’s restrooms. Another recent threat was made against students as well.

The Roy High School administration sent out an alert to parents, saying the threat did not seem credible, but the Roy Police Department had agreed to have an increased presence Thursday at the school, located at 2150 W. 4800 South.

The note reads, in full:

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We want to make you aware of an incident. We had some graffiti in the bathroom that made a threat. Although we do not believe the threat is credible, we take threats seriously and are continuing to investigate the incident. As a precaution, we have asked local authorities to have a heightened police presence tomorrow at Roy High School. We appreciate Roy City Police Department and their willingness to always support us. Thank you for your willingness to always support us. Thank you for your support during this situation and all your support of Roy High.

Sincerely,

Roy High Administration
