MAGNA, Utah, May 31, 2018 (Gephardt Approved) — Police are on the lookout for two men who terrorized clerks during an armed robbery at a Magna service station early Thursday morning.

Officers were called to the Sunoco at 8145 W. 3500 South about 1:20 a.m., after the masked robbers, dressed in black, walked into the store and demanded cash.

One bandit was armed with a pistol; the other brandished a knife.

Unified Police Lt. Ken Malone told Gephardt Daily that the robbers knew what they were doing, and moved methodically through the store as they stole beer and cigarettes in addition to a small amount of cash.

Investigators said one of the bandits held a pistol to a frightened clerk’s head while forcing her to open the cash register.

While the robbery was in progress the thieves were startled when one the clerk’s cell phones began to ring. One of the robbers grabbed the phone, and the two men ran from the store.

The phone was later recovered from the gas station’s parking lot.

Officers who reviewed surveillance video of the incident described the robbers as dangerous and “extremely confrontational.”

Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to call Unified Police.
