Unified Police arrest man after threats made to children’s hospitals

MIDVALE, Utah, Oct. 23, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Unified Police officials have arrested a 21-year-old man who allegedly threatened shootings at local children’s hospitals.

The suspect has been identified as Terek Wesley Fleming, of Midvale, the Unified Police Department said in a news release Wednesday afternoon.

“On the night of Oct. 22, the subject began making threats to shoot a children’s hospital as well as harm other individuals,” the UPD statement said. “The report was originally made to Ephraim County, then was reported to other local agencies.”

Unified Police were able to locate the subject and he has subsequently been booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on charges of terroristic threats and threats of violence. Additional charges are pending.

“As a result of these threats Primary Children’s Hospital was on lockdown for 13 hours, Sanpete Hospital until today and Shriner’s Hospital was on heightened security,” the news release said.
