UTAH COUNTY, Utah, May 17, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — The Utah County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue team, along with the Department of Public Safety helicopters, responded to a report of an overdue helicopter Friday evening.

The missing helicopter has been found in the mountains above Alpine, according to Sgt. Spencer Cannon, UCSO spokesman.

The DPS helicopter was first to locate and reach the overdue craft that had reportedly taken off earlier from Ballard, in Uintah County.

Cannon said crews are working to get to the helicopter and check on anyone on board.

Shortly after 8:30 p.m., he tweeted that “the terrain is steep and rugged with heavy vegetation,” and added that the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration will be responding to conduct investigations.

Gephardt Daily will update this developing story as more information becomes available.
