SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, June 24, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Salt Lake City police have set up a dedicated tip line to aid in the search for a missing University of Utah student last seen one week ago.
Monday morning Salt Lake City Police tweeted: “SLCPD set up a dedicated tip line specifically for #MissingPerson MacKenzie Lueck, case 19-111129. Please call 801-799-4420 with any information. #MacKenzieLueck”
MacKenzie Lueck, 23, who goes by Kenzie, disappeared after returning from a family visit to California about 1 a.m. on Monday, June 17th.
She texted her mother saying she had arrived at Salt Lake International and was taking a Lyft from the airport.
Police say they have confirmed Lueck left the airport via Lyft and was dropped off at her chosen destination in North Salt Lake.
Salt Lake police investigators say they have spoken with Lyft, as well as the Lyft driver, and both are cooperating with the investigation.
On Sunday afternoon, officials tweeted: “SLCPD is still actively looking for MacKenzie Lueck. Detectives have been working throughout the weekend and will continue to follow any/all leads. We are aware of info being shared by her friends and others about this case.”
A follow-up tweet added: “We are working diligently to maintain the integrity of this case and ask that anyone with information on MacKenzie or her possible location please contact us. #Seesomethingsaysomething.”
Lueck’s friends told media Sunday they are particularly worried because Lueck missed a return flight to California for a friend’s wedding. They say she also missed classes including important midterm exams.
Salt Lake police officials said in a statement they have not uncovered any indication that Lueck has been harmed or is in danger, but detectives are concerned for her welfare.
Lueck is described as being 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing 120 pounds. She has medium-length blond hair and brown eyes.
