Utah COVID-19 update: 3 more deaths, 587 new cases in past 24 hours

UTAH, Aug. 6, 2020 (Gephardt Daily) — The Utah Department of Health has confirmed three more COVID-19 deaths and 587 new lab-confirmed cases in the past 24 hours.

Those who died were:

  • A Davis County woman between ages 45 and 64, a resident of a long-term care facility
  • A Salt Lake County man between ages 45 and 64, hospitalized at time of death
  • A Utah County man, older than 85, a resident of a long-term care facility

Those three losses bring Utah’s COVID-19 death toll to 330.

The 587 newly confirmed cases bring Utah’s total to 42,915 positive cases.

More numbers

Utah officials have performed 555,391 tests, an increase of 5,069 people tested from yesterday.

The rolling seven-day average for positive tests is 449 per day. The rolling seven-day average for positive laboratory tests is 10%.

There are 190 people currently hospitalized with COVID-19. Total hospitalizations from the beginning of the outbreak are 2,554.

Those classified as recovered, defined as still living three weeks after diagnosis, number 31,619.
