Utah’s Wednesday COVID-19 update: 6 deaths, 421 new cases in past 24 hours

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Aug. 5, 2020 (Gephardt Daily) — The Utah Department of Health has reported six more COVID-19 deaths and 421 new cases in the past 24 hours.

Those who died were:

  • A male, between 65 and 84, Davis County resident, hospitalized at time of death
  • A male, between 65 and 84, Davis County resident, hospitalized at time of death
  • A female, between 65 and 84, Kane County resident, hospitalized at time of death
  • A female, between 65 and 84, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
  • A male, between 65 and 84, San Juan County resident, hospitalized at time of death
  • A female, older than 85, Utah County resident, long-term care facility resident

Those six new deaths brings the cumulative total in Utah to 327.

The 421 new cases brings Utah’s total to 42,328 positive cases.

The rolling seven-day average for positive tests is 438 per day.

The rolling seven-day average for percent of positive laboratory tests is 10.1%

Currently, 184 people are hospitalized for the virus. Total hospitalizations from the beginning of the outbreak are 2,519.

The number of people tested for coronavirus in Utah is 550,322. That’s an increase of 5,366 people tested from yesterday.

A total of 30,911 of our cases are considered “recovered.” A case with a diagnosis date of more than three weeks ago, who has not passed away, is considered recovered.
