OGDEN, Utah, Nov. 8, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — The drive-thru of an Ogden fast-food restaurant was the scene of an officer-involved shooting and the apprehension of a wanted fugitive Thursday afternoon.

Derryl Spencer, with the U.S. Marshals Service Violent Fugitive Apprehension Team, confirmed to Gephardt Daily that a dangerous fugitive wanted by Adult Probation and Parole was tracked to the area of Washington Boulevard and 12th Street.

When the suspect attempted to flee by way of the Sonic Burger drive-thru at 1241 Washington Blvd., shots were fired by at least one U.S. marshal. Members of the public reported hearing two shots.

No one was hit by the gunfire, Spencer said, and the suspect was taken into custody.

The incident occurred shortly before 3 p.m., and law enforcement was still processing the scene more than seven hours later.

Ogden Police Department was called to assist at the scene, and OPD will handle the investigation into the incident, which is officially being treated as an officer-involved shooting.

The suspect, whose name has not yet been released, has an extensive violent history, Spencer said. He is being booked into Weber County Jail.

The U-Haul pick up truck the suspect was in smashed through a fence and shattered the window of a neighboring home.

There were no reports of injuries.
