LAREDO, TEXAS – June 10, 2015 — Over the past weekend at the Laredo Port of Entry, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers seized a significant combination load of alleged heroin and cocaine valued at $1 million.

The seizure occurred on June 7 at Gateway to the Americas Bridge when CPS officers referred a 55-year-old male Mexican citizen from Aguascalientes, Mexico for a secondary examination on his 2008 Dodge Avenger. CBP officers discovered that there were eight packages which contained 32.54 pounds of alleged cocaine, that accumulated a street-value of $250,920. Upon further investigation officers found another eight packages that contained 33.6 pounds of alleged heroin, carrying an estimated street value of $762,000.

“Our frontline officers at Gateway to the Americas Bridge successfully shut down a million dollar combination load of hard narcotics and prevented them from being peddled on America’s streets,” said Port Director Joseph Misenhelter, Laredo Port of Entry.

CBP officers have since then seized the narcotics, vehicle as well as arrested the driver and turned him over to Homeland Security Investigations special agents for further investigation.
