Bratz Dolls Make-Under
Most little girls do not wear make up and most little girls do not dress ‘sexy’. One Tasmanian mother decided it was time for a fashion make-over for the popularly sexualized “Bratz” dolls and has received an unexpected outpouring of support.

Sonia Singh, from Hobart in Tasmania, normally takes and refashions children’s dolls into a more natural and childlike form. She decided the famous “Bratz” dolls needed to become more realistic so she decided to give them all a new look.
She starts by removing any trace of make-up. She then reduces the lip and eye size and personally sews the dolls modest new outfits.
The result is something that any little girl can relate to. She completes their new look by photographing them doing things other children are more likely to be doing like climbing trees, swinging on tires and playing around outside.
Since sharing images from her project online, Singh has received an tremendous amount of support from parents requesting to be able to purchase the dolls.
She has since made plans to set up an online store on Etsy where she’ll sell the second-hand dolls to others. Each doll will come complete with a before picture.
