Finding the Perfect Shopping App for you
May 4, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – Shopping is easier now more than ever and we’re not just talking about being able to shop from the comforts of home. You can now check for the latest prices in multiple catalogs, availability of products, comparison of prices, special promotions, discounts, reviews and lowest prices on your smartphone.
Some of these apps even reward you for being an avid shopper and lets you join forces with other savvy shoppers to find the best prices for anything you can find under the sun.
So which app should you use to save money at the grocery store? More than two thirds of shoppers in a recent survey said they use their phones to find coupons and nearly two thirds said they used their smartphone or tablet to create shopping lists.
Food economist Theresa Hunsaker said using these apps absolutely can save you money. “I have heard of people saving $75 to $150 per month.” Hunsaker said the first thing she checks out when looking into a shopping app is the cost for consumers. She warned some apps can be quite pricey. “It can be as high as $20 to $30 per month depending on the different features.”
Hunsaker said there are may free apps that will deliver the basics. The problem is they are usually limited in their scope. “I might be able to get one that gives me my grocery list or plans my menus, but it won’t lead me necessarily for free to the grocery stores that have items for sale that are on my list or vice versa. The main thing is for people to just decide what features they really want and what will save them the most time and the most money combined.”
