Nearly One Million People Ordered the Apple Watch Today

apple-watch-6_1CUPERTINO, Calif., April 13 (UPI) — According to recently released data, roughly one million people ordered an Apple Watch on the first day of preorders.

Slice, a digital commerce measurement company, claims about 957,000 people ordered the watch on Friday. About 62 percent purchased the cheapest option, the Apple Watch Sport. The average price per watch sold was just over $508.

Preorders for Apple’s new Macbook also began on Friday, and the data shows roughly 48,000 people ordered the computer. About 43 percent of people who purchased the computer bought an Apple Watch on the same day.

Reports from Friday have claimed all the watches Apple was prepared to sell on Friday were sold in just a few hours. The watches are expected to appear in stores starting on April 24.
