“I’ll See you in My Dreams”
Starring: Blythe Danner and Sam Elliott
Directed by: Brett Haley
Bleeker Street Media / Rated PG-13

September 1, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) — New on Blu-ray and DVD today, Blythe Danner stars as a widow and former songstress who discovers life can begin anew at any age. After the death of her beloved dog, she finds the everyday activities that have given her life structure – her regular bridge game, gardening, a glass of wine or two – have lost their luster.

With the support of three loyal girlfriends she begins pursuing a new love interest (Sam Elliott), and reconnecting with her daughter.

Good performances and a wonderfully insightful and witty script make “I’ll See You in My Dreams” a very watchable film.

It gets a B and is rated PG-13.

“Mad Max: Fury Road”
Starring: Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron
Directed by: George Miller
Warner Bros. Pictures / Rated R

After 30 years, George Miller reboots Mad Max for a new generation. In this apocalyptic story set against a stark desert landscape, a loner named Max becomes involved with a murderous warrior chief chasing a woman who has betrayed him.

I said this when the film was released and I will say it again… “Mad Max: Fury Road” is a non-stop thrill-ride that doesn’t let up. Miller is a master craftsman at putting the viewer in the middle of the action and getting the most out his actors. No frame of this film is wasted.

“Mad Max: Fury Road” shows what a great director can do, by taking what could have been a tired and worn out premise and making it shinny and new again.

It gets an A- and is rated R.
